A Message For Teachers
While the Little Horse Story was written for entertainment, being an educator, I soon realized there were themes embedded in the story that could be used for "teachable moments". They are universal topics that any of us encounter at some time in our lives. I, therefore, leave the way they are addressed to you, the professional in your own classroom. You know best the developmental needs of your students, the special situations in your classroom and the cultural expectations of your community.
In depth topics center on self-esteem. Threaded throughout the story is finding ones direction in a confusing world. Patience, teasing, secrets, moving, missing someone who has died, and the magic Little Horse feels but can't say, that is, love, are all wrapped into this Christmas story.
